What does the HSA require for first aid at work?

The Health and Safety Authority (HSA) is Ireland's national workplace safety regulator. Under the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 and the General Application Regulations 2007, every employer must provide first-aid arrangements that match the risks in their workplace. In practice, the HSA expects three things: trained people who can respond, a stocked and accessible first aid kit, and a clear emergency plan that everyone understands.

The HSA does not approve or certify individual training courses. Instead, it sets out what good first-aid cover looks like and inspects workplaces to make sure it is in place.
